I struggled
to use the shower in our room. Told
Sharney about it and she spoke to the person on reception and they provided a
plastic chair to use next time, which made it much easier. Lyn and Chris were staying at a place not too
far from us and came to our hotel to meet and discuss our plans for the
day. We agreed to go to the Funicolare
which travels up and down a mountain beside the lake all day. It was another beautiful warm day and we
walked along the lake to the Funicolare.
There were a lot of people waiting to get on board. Terry and I were shown to the entry point for
disabled boarding while Sharney, Lyn and Chris waited below. Then we all went on board with me right at
the front. As we slowly climbed the
mountain we were treated to spectacular views of Como and the lake. At the half-way point, we passed the other
carriages going down.
When we reached
the top, we disembarked and enjoyed the view from the lookout then explored the
nearby area. There are many fabulous
looking homes at the top taking advantage of the views below. We had lunch at Trattoria dei Bracconieri
which had delicious food with views to match.
We then waited by the disabled entrance for the next descending
Funicolare. When we disembarked at the
bottom, we went for a walk beside the lake.
We had a nap then later had dinner at a restaurant looking out over the
lake. When we finished, it was still
light so we went for a walk and saw Lyn and Chris on the way. We then went for a walk on the path around
the lake where we could see the fountain shooting up, making a pretty
spectacle. The top of the Duomo is the
most dominant landmark in the city.
